Ordering & payment

Answers to questions about orders, payment and invoices.

Choose the service you need, fill in the online form and pay securely online. You'll immediately receive a confirmation with your reference number.

Every person needs their own NIE number – including spouses and children. Simply submit the applications one after another: once you've finished the first, you can start the next one straight away.

You can pay by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, SEPA direct debit, Klarna or PayPal – depending on availability in your country.

Yes, with Klarna you can pay later or in instalments – provided Klarna offers you this option at checkout. The decision is made by Klarna; we have no influence over it.

Yes, you automatically receive an invoice by e-mail after payment. For companies, VAT is shown separately.

As long as we haven't started working on it, you can cancel free of charge at any time. Just send us an e-mail with your reference number. You'll find full details of your right of withdrawal in our Terms.

We keep you informed by e-mail at every important step. You can also contact us at any time via WhatsApp or e-mail, quoting your reference number.

Not happy? We're sorry to hear that – and we'd like to put it right together with you. E-mail us at [email protected] with your reference number and we'll get back to you personally within two working days.

Shipping

Answers to questions about sending your paperwork and documents.

The postal address is in the e-mail that comes with your power of attorney. If you had your power of attorney notarised online with notarity, there's nothing to post: simply send us the notarised document with apostille by e-mail.

We recommend a tracked service, such as Royal Mail Special Delivery, DHL Express or UPS Express. That way you always know where your documents are.

As soon as your documents reach us, we'll confirm by e-mail. Feel free to send us the tracking number so we can keep an eye on it too.

We work entirely online and have no public office. Please send your documents by post.

If you booked the “Original by post” option, we'll send you the official document by registered post once it has been issued. You'll receive the PDF version by e-mail beforehand.

Documents

Answers to questions about the power of attorney, ID and the documents you need.

We do. After you order, we prepare your personal, bilingual power of attorney with your details and e-mail it to you – ready to sign.

For the NIE, all you need is a valid passport or national ID card and the power of attorney we prepare for you. You state the reason for your application (e.g. buying property) in the form.

The notary certifies your signature on the power of attorney and usually also a copy of your ID. The power of attorney is then apostilled. Our guide explains exactly what to do, step by step.

No. The power of attorney is drawn up in two languages and is accepted in this form by the Spanish authorities. A certified translation is not required.

You keep the NIE number itself for life. Some banks or notaries may still want to see a recent certificate – you can request a new one from us at any time.

Notarisation & apostille

Answers to questions about notaries, notarisation and the apostille.

With notarisation, a notary confirms that the signature on a document really is yours. To do this, you sign in front of the notary and show your ID.

An apostille is an official certificate under the Hague Convention that confirms the authenticity of a notarisation for authorities in another country. It means Spain accepts your power of attorney without further checks.

In the UK, it is issued by the FCDO Legalisation Office – many notaries can apply for it on your behalf. In Ireland, it is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

That depends on the notary and the country. Notarising your signature usually costs between £50 and £150 (or €50–150 in Ireland), and an FCDO apostille costs around £45.

Yes, through our partner notarity. There you sign your power of attorney in front of a partner notary via video call – no appointment in person. The notarised document with apostille is ready to download just minutes later. You pay the notary fee directly to notarity.

How to get your power of attorney notarised online:
  1. You receive your bilingual power of attorney from us by e-mail.
  2. Combine the power of attorney and a clear scan of your passport or ID card into a single PDF file. You don't need to sign it yet. If that doesn't work, we'll happily merge the file for you free of charge.
  3. Book the notarisation of the power of attorney with notarity, including a certified copy of your ID and the apostille. Upload the PDF file – not a photo.
  4. Verify your identity online beforehand – this takes 5 to 20 minutes depending on the method.
  5. Choose an appointment – often still available the same day – and sign the power of attorney digitally by video call with the partner notary.
  6. Download the notarised document with apostille and e-mail it to us at [email protected].

As soon as we have the power of attorney, we book the appointment with the authority and apply for your NIE.

Yes, the Spanish consulate can also certify your power of attorney, in which case no apostille is needed. However, you'll need an appointment, and waiting times are often long.

Digital certificate

Answers to questions about issuing, installing and using the digital certificate.

After your online identity check, it usually takes up to 2 working days. You'll receive an e-mail with the download link and installation instructions.

Usually two years from issue. We remind you in good time to renew it.

You can easily complete the selfie identity check on your smartphone. However, you should download and install the certificate on a computer – that's also where you'll use it for most government websites.

How to install the .p12 file on Windows:
  1. Double-click the downloaded .p12 file. The Certificate Import Wizard opens.
  2. Select “Current User” and click “Next”.
  3. Confirm the file path with “Next”.
  4. Enter the password you chose when creating the certificate and tick “Mark this key as exportable”.
  5. Leave “Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate” selected, then click “Next” and “Finish”.

You can then use the certificate straight away in Chrome and Edge.

How to install the .p12 file on macOS:
  1. Double-click the downloaded .p12 file. Keychain Access opens.
  2. Select “login” as the keychain and click “Add”.
  3. Enter the password you chose when creating the certificate.
  4. The certificate now appears under “My Certificates” and works in Safari and Chrome.

Firefox uses its own certificate store:
  1. Open Settings and go to “Privacy & Security”.
  2. Scroll right down, click “View Certificates” and select the “Your Certificates” tab.
  3. Click “Import”, select the .p12 file and enter your password.

This means the root certificate of the issuing authority is missing on your computer. Install it via the link in our guide, just like your own certificate – the message will then disappear. If it still doesn't work, we're happy to help via WhatsApp.

Without the password, the .p12 file can't be installed, and for security reasons nobody can recover it – not even us. Get in touch and we'll discuss reissuing the certificate.
